I took the kids to Pack Meeting at Wagon Wheel last weekend. It is just out of town with some large boulders that kids really enjoy climbing.
I was actually suppose to go with the youth to the sandboarding event at the Olancha sand dunes, but at the last minute I changed my mind since there was a plethera of adult leaders. It was a good choice because I was able to go to pack meeting and I also heard it was windy at Olancha (sandboarding can be miserable with the wind blowing sand in your eyes).
So the kids climbed some scary high boulders and for pack meeting did some orienteering skills. Benjamin is getting good and enjoys geocaching with me.
This weekend we had the first soccer games for both Emma and Benjamin. They both continue to improve their skills. My only complaint is that it was windy during both games!
When the Quains came to visit, we had a successful sandboarding outing. Often, sandboarding is a hit or miss activity. If there is any wind at all, it makes for a miserable experience. We know all too well. Sand dunes also are constantly changing shape. It is necessary to get a steep slope for sandboarding or it just won't work.
This time was perfect! What a great looking bunch!
You can go sitting down on the board or standing up. Standing is a bit of a challenge and can lead to some tougher wipe-outs, but very fun.
Emma is getting ready to go down.
It is very tough coming back up a steep dune. Here Mo is getting a ride up from Taylor.
Recently the Quains came to visit us. We always enjoy spending time with them. We decided to do some geocaching and had a fun time checking out some old rusty trains while out in the desert.

Nobody was actually run over.
And this is just a great picture of Henry and Casey in the desert.
