Joseph Smith Farm

We visited the Joseph Smith farm while we were in in New York this summer.  The larger picture on the left is a historical replica of the log cabin that Joseph Smith lived in with his family while he was a kid.  It is built on the same foundation of the original cabin.  On the right side are some pictures of the barn replica that was on the farm.

What is interesting to me is that the Restoration occurred in Palmyra.  I grew up in a town very similar to and even near Palmyra also along the Erie Canal and about the same size as Palmyra which also existed around at the same time as the Smith family moving to New York.  However, the Smith family ended up in Palmyra, not by coincidence, near an important location where he could later unearth the sacred records known today as the Book of Mormon.

It is pretty neat to walk around the same area the Smiths lived.
